Kickstarter-funded claret-spraying simulator Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is due this summer on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, creator Koji Igarashi has revealed.

The spiritual successor to Igarashi-san's Castlevania series has been a long time coming, having raised an impressive $5.5 million back in 2015 via crowdfunding. To give you an idea of how many delays it's had, the game was originally going to come out for Wii U and PlayStation Vita, but those version have since been shelved.

If you're a fan of Castlevania, especially the excellent Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, then you should definitely make sure Bloodstained is on your radar.

Check out the latest gameplay footage below, which debuted during yesterday's Nintendo Direct event.
