Blizzard is yet to confirm release timing for its next major release – expected to be Diablo III or StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm – but Activision has confirmed the studio will release at least two titles before the end of 2012.

“Because Blizzard Entertainment has not yet confirmed the launch date for its next global release, our outlook at this time does not include the new game from Blizzard in 2011,” explained Thomas Tippl, Activision-Blizzard CFO, during last night’s fourth quarter earnings call. “Should we not release a major title from Blizzard this year, we would expect, for planning purposes, to launch a minimum of two Blizzard titles in 2012.”

Diablo III has to be released before the end of 2012, and we’d expect to see StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm too. There’s also the possibility of a fourth expansion for World of Warcraft, given that Blizzard’s all-new MMO isn’t expected until 2013.
