Following what seems like an aeon of teasing and not-so-subtle allusions that a new character would be coming to Overwatch, Blizzard finally gave fans what they wanted yesterday: Doomfist, in all his glory. For now he’s only playable in the PTR (that’s Public Test Realm, folks). That’s not all, though. Blizzard is also working on fixing duplicates in Loot Boxes and more, as detailed in their recent Overwatch PTR patch notes.

Blizzard promised back in June that it’s working on reducing duplicates in Loot Boxes, giving you five standard PTR Loot Boxes to have a play around with. As expected, these items won’t carry over into the live game.

The new hero, Doomfist, is an offense class fighter. His cybernetics make him a highly mobile and agile, powerful frontline fighter. The Hand Cannon is his primary attack, a four-shot weapon that fires projectiles from his knuckles one at a time or in a single blast. That’s pretty flipping awesome, if you ask me. His secondary attack, the Rocket Punch, has him charging forward and delivering blows which can knock back any opponent they connects with, dealing extra damage if that unlucky so-and-so ends up hitting a wall.

Doomfist also has a Seismic Slam which smashes a targeted area, knocking opponents towards him so he can deal even more damage. Cripes. While his Rising Uppercut move tosses enemies into the air — kind of like Sagat on steroids — his passive ability Best Defense shields him every time he uses his abilities against an opponent. Finally, his ultimate ability (as if everything else wasn’t already ultimate enough), Meteor Strike, has him leaping high up into the sky and dropping into a targeted area, dealing — you guessed it — massive amounts of damage.

So, this Doomfist chap sounds like one heck of an all-around badass, really.

There’s also been some additional fixes to various known issues and bugs in the game which are detailed in depth over on the Overwatch blog.
