Blizzard has cancelled its annual BlizzCon event, according to an announcement from the firm.

The statement came quietly in an update about the 2012 Battle.net World Championships, in which it was stated the company was heavily focusing on releasing Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria, and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm as quickly as possible.

Due to a “jam-packed schedule” BlizzCon will take place in 2013.

Blizzard previously stated it planned to speed up the traditional 18-month development cycle for World of Warcraft expansions in order to launch Mists of Pandaria as soon as possible.
