It was bound to happen sooner or later, and late last week the news that all World of Warcraft fans were waiting for was announced. Blizzard Entertainment will release World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion pack for the record breaking MMORPG. The expansion will continue the current story, with the Horde and Alliance trying to rebuild their lives in Azeroth. In the Burning Crusade both races look to new friends in their time of need.

We’re extremely proud of what we created with World of Warcraft, and we look forward to expanding the boundaries of the game with The Burning Crusade,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With all of the new content we have planned, the expansion set will offer something for every World of Warcraft player to explore and enjoy.”

The expansion will add new player races, a new level-70 player limit, new realms, flying mounts, new quests, new monsters and new challenges. Professions will also see enhancements and Jewelcraftng will be added. World of Warcraft now has a worldwide subscriber base of over 4.5 million. The Burning Crusade expansion can only help the game become even more popular.
