SEGA Europe has today announced that Bleach: Dark Souls will be released in Europe early next year, exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The game is developed by Japanese studio Treasure and promises a multitude of enhancements to last year’s Bleach: The Blade of Fate.

Bleach: Dark Souls will feature an expanded cast of over 40 playable characters including Rukia, Kon and hero Ichigo, and for the first time ever Evil Hallows will also be playable.

The game will also feature new Bankai moves, 30 new Spirit Cards, power enhancing crystals, seven new gameplay modes and expanded personalisation features in multiplayer games.

As previously possible, players will be able to build customised Spirit Card Decks, only now with the addition of power-enhancing Reiju Crystals to boost their character’s health, attack strength and defence power cards.

Two player battles will be supported via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and up to four players will be able to battle using DS Download Play – standard vs or tag team.

Fans can also look forward to the inclusion of the Bleach encyclopaedia, packed with detailed explanations of the Bleach world, character info, attack descriptions and a glossary of Bleach terms.

Look out for Bleach: Dark Souls early in 2009.
