November NPD data released over night has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops was the biggest selling title of the month. The game sold in excess of 8.4 million copies in its debut month, making it the 7th biggest-selling game ever in the US.

Surprisingly Gran Turismo 5 only charted at No. 8, failing to outsell CoD, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Just Dance 2, Madden NFL 11, Fable III, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. GT5 did manage to ship 5.5 million units worldwide though.

1.Call of Duty: Black Ops

2.Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

3.Just Dance 2

4.Madden NFL 11

5.Fable III

6.Donkey Kong Country Returns

7.Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

8.Gran Turismo 5

9.NBA 2K11

10.Wii Fit Plus

The top two in the chart aren’t surprising, but the success of Just Dance 2, outselling many Triple-A releases is quite remarkable. The series has also been a near ever-present in the UK sales chart. The continued high sales of Fable III, remaining in the top 5 in its second month on release, is great news for Microsoft – sales in the US alone now stand at approximately 1 million units.
