The Call of Duty franchise often pushes the boat out when it comes to its store bundles. The more extravagant weapon blueprints often attract players to spend their hard-earned CoD Points in a bid to stand out on the virtual battlefield thanks to their unique designs.

In recent years, Activision’s shooter series has participated in the 4/20 celebrations in the form of limited-time events giving you the opportunity to earn some themed items ranging from Operator skins to weapon stickers to add even more flair to your favourite weapons. The most recent arrival to Treyarch’s game is a weapon blueprint that allows players to blaze it up during multiplayer matches.

Black Ops 6 celebrates 4/20 in a brand-new way

Following the launch of the Season 1 Reloaded update, dataminers have already uncovered a wealth of new items expected to arrive in the store before they’re intended release date. One blueprint in particular has caught the eye of fans as it enables them to use a weapon like a bong to create a small smokescreen.

Alongside the unique emote, the blueprint also glows yellow and green making it one of the most colourful blueprints released during the Black Ops 6 cycle so far. As expected, the appearance of the 4/20-inspired blueprint has split the opinions of players looking to expand their cosmetics collection.

“You already know we’re hitting this,” jokes one fan. On the other hand, there are many questioning Activision’s decision to release such an item due to other practices the publisher has put in place in a bid to create a safe playing environment. “Imagine banning people for swearing but promoting using drugs,” says another player.

A step too far?

The blueprint that allows players to turn a weapon into a bong has certainly split fans. On one hand, the game is aimed at players over the age of 18 but on the other, it could spark plenty of debate surrounding the glamourisation of drug use. Either way, there are going to be plenty of fans eagerly waiting to spend some CoD Points while others will avoid it.

It’s hard to tell whether the bong blueprint is a wise move or not. Activision has actively participated in 4/20 celebrations by hosting in-game events in Call of Duty, but if enough backlash is generated, we’ll have to wait and see if the publisher reconsiders this unique design choice.
