In somewhat of a surprise, SEGA has announced a partnership with BioWare to create a new video game based on SEGA’s flagship icon, Sonic The Hedgehog. The game’s title hasn’t been announced, but Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America, has confirmed that it will be an RPG for the Nintendo DS.
“As huge fans of Sonic ourselves, we’re committed to delivering a truly amazing story-driven experience within the Sonic universe, focusing on capturing the character’s broad appeal and placing him in a completely original adventure,” said Ray Muzyka, chief executive officer of BioWare.
The new Sonic RPG is scheduled to ship for Nintendo DS in 2008.
