Take Two has announced that BioShock 2 is currently in development at the newly formed 2K Marin, with a release set for the publisher’s fiscal Q4 2009 – that’s in the three month period of August 2009 through October 2009.
Although not in development at Ken Levine’s 2K Boston studio – formerly Irrational Games – the man behind the first game will have some involvement in the sequel. Take Two confirmed during a conference call that Levine “will be working on BioShock 2 and… a new IP”.
BioShock was one of the surprise hits of 2007 and has gone on to sell over two million units worldwide across Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
Although the game’s release date is already locked into a three month period, Take Two hasn’t revealed which platforms the highly anticipated sequel is coming to.
