A lawsuit between Bethesda and Minecraft studio Mojang is underway over the copyright of the title “Scrolls” – the name of Mojang’s upcoming fantasy card trading game which infringes on The trademark of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

However this is not something the firm is taking enjoyment out of:

Explaining their side of the story, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has told Kotaku:

“Nobody here enjoys being forced into this. Hopefully it will all be resolved soon.”

Hines stated:

“This is a business matter based on how trademark law works and it will continue to be dealt with by lawyers who understand it, not by me or our developer.

“Mojang’s public comments have not given a complete picture as it relates to their filings, our trademarks, or events that have taken place.”

Mojang head, Notch, on the other hand, believes Bethesda isn’t playing fair.

“They’re being very unreasonable,” he said. “If someone made a game called ‘Minesomething’ or ‘Somethingcraft,’ we’d be fine with it. In fact, there are some games that are VERY similar to Minecraft with these names already, and we are not going to go after there. We’d even be fine with both’Mine’ and ‘Craft’ separately.”

Mojang’s Scrolls has no current release date.
