While Bethesda’s Starfield is currently the game everyone is talking about, the upcoming Indiana Jones game, which is being developed by Machine Games, who is most known for the rebooted Wolfenstein series, has also had some information about the game come out. Notably, it has been reported that the upcoming game will be first-person and third-person.

Speaking on the Xbox Era podcast, Nick Baker noted, “From what I’ve heard, it’s gonna be both [first-person and third-person], not like Starfield where you get to pick but, there’ll be specific sections, some will be third some will be first.” This information should be taken with a grain of salt as even Nick himself said, “I don’t know if that’s finalized, I don’t know if that’s set in stone.” He continued, “At the moment as far as I’m aware it’s actually a combination of both, there’ll be first-person segments and third-person segments.”

While there wasn’t any more information given outside of this comment fans have been speculating online as to what this could entail. Also, given the vagueness of this comment having a combination of both sections could easily just mean walking around and engaging in gunplay in first-person while driving is in third-person, which isn’t dissimilar to the way other games handle these perspectives. On the other hand, players have been speculating that this could mean a more integrated shift between the two views similar to that of Metal Gear Solid 5 with one fan saying, “I was actually thinking more third person normally, first when you pull out a gun.”

Others, such as Brendanm132 theorized that this combination may take some inspiration from games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which would see the player switch to a third-person perspective when in cover but remain if first-person for the rest of the game. They said, “I was actually thinking more first person normally, third when you take cover or have a setpiece (i.e. running from a boulder).”

Needless to say, if this rumour is true we’ll still need to wait for more information about what this entails. It should also be noted that while it was rumoured that Bethesda’s upcoming Indiana Jones game may not be Xbox exclusive, it has since been confirmed that the game will be Xbox and PC exclusive.
