Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 2, the rumoured sequel to the popular SEGA-published action title, has been cancelled before it was even announced, according to a SPOnG source said to be familiar with the situation.

The game was to include a new character from the US military, although it’s not clear if the project had begun development.

SEGA offered “no comment” about the rumoured cancellation, but it’s believed SEGA’s dramatic restructuring of its Western business – which included several projects being canned – could be to blame.
