A host of new characters are coming to Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS, beginning now with Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Nintendo has announced.

Cloud has two costumes – one inspired by FF7 and the other by Advent Children – and features Limit Breaks. As Cloud gives and receives damage his Limit Break meter will fill, enabling him to unleash his Limit Break.

Joining Cloud is the Final Fantasy stage set in Midgar, in which players can grab Summon Materia that call forth summons from the Final Fantasy universe such as Ifrit and Bahamut ZERO.

Cloud and the Midgar stage will be available priced £5.39 on individual formats, or £6.29 for both.

Also coming to Super Smash Bros. in the new year are:

February 2016, Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates – £4.49/£5.39 Like Wii Fit Trainer, Robin and the Villager, players can choose to play as a female or male version of the character. Corrin has the blood of a dragon in his veins, allowing him to transform and pull off attacks like no other fighter.

February 2016, Bayonetta and Umbra Clock Stage – £5.39/£6.39: A result of the recent Fighter Ballot, Bayonetta was the top request from European players. Just like in her action games, Bayonetta is a combo fighter in Super Smash Bros., chaining different kinds of attacks. Her signature move is Witch Time, which slows down opponents if they are within range. Her new exclusive stage is called Umbra Clock Tower, filled with moving platforms and even an alternate world.

Nintendo has also confirmed that, as with all playable Super Smash Bros. characters, Cloud, Corrin and Bayonetta will get amiibo figures. Furthermore, amiibo figures for Ryu, Roy and R.O.B. (Famicom Colours) will launch on March 18, with the Lucas amiibo set for January 29.
