Yusuke Hashimoto, director of Bayonetta 2, has posted concept art of his new project to Twitter and fans are imagining excitedly what the final product could be.
Prior to his work on Bayonetta, Hashimoto was the visual effects lead engineer and animation effect designer on Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, respectively. After departing Capcom in 2006, he moved to PlatinumGames and directed Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, and Star Fox Zero. In late January, Hashimoto announced that he had left PlatinumGames, having been with the developer since its inception.

'Let me take this opportunity to share my thanks with anyone who has worked with me, supported me, or played my games. I hope to take the experiences I gained at Platinum and use them on whatever I work on in the future. Thank you again,' he said at the time. Today, Hashimoto has revealed a sneak peek at what he’s working on.
The highly-detailed art is of a woman in fantasy garb and daubed with war paint. She seems to be wielding a staff, and is possibly wearing a set of steampunk-ish goggles too. In the smoky clouds of the background, a red dragon is flying through the air with a figure in the saddle. They are also holding a staff, implying that the new title has a dragon riding elements in it. Based on this alone, I’m on board.
The artwork is illustrated by Tatsuya Yoshikawa, who previously worked on character designs for the Breath of Fire and Devil May Cry series, and was credited on Megaman X. Yoshikawa and Hashimoto have collaborated on multiple projects in the past, and although no extra details were shared, we’ll keep you in the loop once we know more.
