DICE has confirmed that Battlefield Currency, Battlefield V's in-game cash that you buy with real-world money, will not be out in time for the game's November launch.

Fortunately, nothing has changed in regards to how these can be spent; they're still only used to purchase cosmetic items, so Battlefield V remains free of any paid-to-win shenanigans. Probably best and all, after the whole Star Wars Battlefront II fiasco.

DICE explained that the reason Battlefield Currency won't be out on release is because they want players 'to get hands-on experience with their Company, the progression system, and earning Company Coin before introducing premium currency.'

Speaking of which, Company Coin is the other option available, but this can only be earned by actually playing the game, such as completing daily missions, special assignments, and progressing in Career Rank.

This can be spent on items 'outside the base progression paths' allowing you to expand your Company, including cosmetics as well as choices within weapon and vehicle Specializations. Players can access soldier and weapon cosmetics at launch, with vehicle options arriving with Tides of War's first chapter.

The studio says that 'real-world money should not enable pay-to-win or pay-for-power.' No arguing with that here, folks.

'Balanced rock-paper-scissors gameplay has always been the foundation of the Battlefield series, and our belief is that real-world money should not enable pay-to-win or pay-for-power,' said DICE.

Battlefield V is due out for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 20.
