Visceral started work on Battlefield Hardline “about a year before [Dead Space 3] shipped”, creative director Ian Milham has revealed, suggesting that the game may have entered development in early 2012.

“Well, development sort of ramps up rather than begins all at once,” Milham said, replying to questions on NeoGAF. “There was a core team on this for about a year before DS3 shipped, then the bulk of the team came over.

“We always have multiple things going on at different scales,” he continued. “Star Wars is our other thing currently going, but we always have some other stuff simmering, including the New IP.”

Visceral’s Star Wars title has yet to be formally revealed, but is believed to be a third-person action-adventure co-written by former Uncharted writer Amy Hennig.

The first Battlefield Hardline trailer was released earlier today, with the game set to release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC on October 21. Look out for more next week.
