The Battlefield 2042 team have given fans an idea what to expect from the shooter following its launch in little over a week’s time.
In the last Battlefield Briefing before launch, the team have said they’re taking a “new approach” to live service. They say they’re committing to not just providing new content but will also take a seasonal approach to future additions. To that end, EA has offered an idea of what to expect in the first year.
We’re told there’ll be four Seasons, four Battle Passes, four new Specialists and new locations over the next twelve months. However, the first of these won’t arrive before 2022, as the post says further details will come “early next year”. The first season will include one of these Specialists and Battle Passes, but we’re also teased “maybe even some new sights to see” too.
That’s not to say players will be devoid of content at launch. Players will get to enjoy a full Preseason as soon as the game is live, we’re reassured. This will include Weekly Missions and Rewards, Limited Time Modes, featured Creator Spotlights and experiences for the game’s Battlefield Portal mode and more.
Battlefield 2042 lands on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 19. Those who buy the game’s Gold and Ultimate editions will be able to jump in from November 12. There’s also a 10-hour early access trial for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers from the same date.
