The Russian Scout class features on a teaser image posted by the Battlefield twitter account.
Some Russian women had been successfully serving in regular units of the army, but in 1917 all-female battalions were formed. There were fifteen in total, though only two were deployed to the front lines. One of those was actually called 1st Women’s Battalion of Death.
While this should, in theory, forestall complaints about historical accuracy because it literally happened in actual real life, there are some complaints that it’s unnecessary historical accuracy, because most of the Russian army were men.
According to Maria Bochkareva, who formed the The 1st Women’s Battalion of Death, it was forced to disband because of hostility from the men on their own side.
More of In the Name of the Tsar will be revealed on June 10 at E3, as part of EA Play.
