Battalion 1944 will enter early access on Steam from February 1, Bulkhead Interactive and Square Enix Collective have announced. In addition, the World War II-based shooter is receiving an exclusive beta later this month for those interested in seeing if the title manages to capture the old-school charm that its developer is banking on.

The beta will kick off on January 19 and will run over the weekend, concluding on January 21. If you dipped into your hard-earned cash to donate to the Battalion 1944 Kickstarter or Humble Bundle campaigns, then you’ll gain automatic access; everyone else can sign up for it here.

Right now it remains unknown when PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to get their paws on the game. However, if PC is your chosen platform, you can grab it on Steam Early Access for £11.99/$14.99.

‘Getting to grips with the intense nature of the Second World War is something that’s been key to our process,’ commented Bulkhead Interactive’s Creative Producer, Howard Philpott. ‘That’s something I also think comes across in this new reveal trailer – the action in a Battalion 1944 encounter is as feverish as it is credible. We’ve looked to bed the play down in maps that are both competitive and authentic, for which our trips to Normandy proved immensely useful.’
