A Baldur’s Gate 3 modder is planning to introduce a tonne of romance options to the game using the new level editor tools. While the cracked tools are now allowing players to make new maps, one modder is hoping to introduce a more robust dating system to the game.

Dating in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 modder Cerberry released a new a new mod that allows players to replay key romance scenes. Accessible via a new spell, the game can transport you back into scenes between your Tav and your virtual paramore.

However, one of the modders behind the project revealed they have big ideas for the game following the release of the game’s modding toolkit. The modder explained that they wish to create impromptu dates between characters to lessen the artificial feeling of relationships in the game.

“I have a few ideas, like having impromptu dates using Karlach’s scene… stargazing with Gale, Harleep’s scene,” the modder said. “But they’re not as straight forward and the animations aren’t as interesting on their own.”

However, in order to properly make the mod as they wish, the Baldur’s Gate modder hopes that others will create custom animations. While custom animations have been created for the game by fans, they’re typically related to lewd mods that Google will penalise us for talking about.

At the time of writing, importing animations into the game is a tricky task, and the new mod tools haven’t made it much easier.

“I  do hope Larian will release something that will make animations in scene edits easier. There is a lot we couldn’t figure out,” the modder explained.

A new life for BG3

With the release of the game’s mod tools, and fans’ efforts to crack them, Baldur’s Gate 3 will now live on with new content for the foreseeable future. Similar to Skyrim mods or Fallout mods, BG3 is a game that gamers will always want to play more of.

Other D&D themed RPGs like Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale have been kept alive for decades thanks to their talented modding scene. As it stands, Larian’s BG3 will be another game that could live on forever.
