The makers of story based wildlife adventure AWAY: The Survival Series have released a new developer walkthrough video with 13 minutes of new gameplay footage.

The “playable nature documentary” will see you follow the exploits of a sugar glider trying to ensure its family’s survival. Of course, this means plenty of gliding and soaring across chasms and rivers as you chase down a dragonfly in an early mission. You’ll be playing through the life cycle of the creature, so of course that also means plenty of hunting and eating. We also get a brief look at the game’s photo mode, letting you create some wonderful nature-themed snapshots.

The sugar glider isn’t the only creature you’ll get to control, however. We’re told there’ll be many other animals, such as frogs insects and salamanders you’ll be inhabiting during the course of the game. We’re treated to a look at the salamander and a praying mantis during the video, showing off their unique abilities you’ll use to progress through the game.

As a sugar glider, you’re also fairly low on the food chain yourself, so you’ll have to be wary of predators. These include the Coral Snake, which is introduced here as a boss encounter. You’ll have to avoid their attacks and do your best to not end up as a snack for the snake.

You can check out the footage for yourself below. AWAY: The Survival Series is currently set for release later this summer on Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
