Test Drive: Unlimited was one of the first Xbox 360 titles to be announced, but it didn’t make launch and is now set for a summer 2006 release. The PC version of the game had already been mentioned in Atari’s 2006 financial report, but Atari has today reconfirmed that a PC version of the game coming. No details on how the PC port will differ from the Xbox 360 version have been released, but it’ll arrive slightly later, in autumn 2006.

In bringing Test Drive: Unlimited to PC we are giving an established online audience an opportunity to take part in this remarkable online driving experience,” said Stephen Baer, senior product manager, Atari, Inc. “The Windows version of Test Drive: Unlimited will boast the same credentials and gameplay as the Xbox 360 version, and will make for an incredible PC title.”

Test Drive Unlimited will offer something a little different to other racers on the market, mainly down to its support for massively open online racing. Players will be able to cruise the online environment and challenge other racers, join clubs and trade cars.

With the game not set to appear on the Xbox 360 until the summer, expect the game to appear at E3 2006 in a near finished state.
