PlayStation’s adorable mascot Astro Bot is already getting new content for his brand-new adventure. In a new announcement, developer Asobi Team confirmed Astro Bot DLC will be coming in the near future.

Astro Bot DLC confirmed

After becoming one of the best-rated games of 2024 (so far), Astro Bot DLC has already been detailed. To add on to the game’s incredible level design, the PlayStation 5 exclusive platformer will receive new challenge levels and a speedrun mode.

Revealed in an interview with VGC, Team Asobi plans to release ten challenge levels and five speedrun levels after launch. However, it’s not known if these plans will change to add or reduce the number of new levels.

While the challenge levels are a new addition to Astro Bot, the Speedrun Mode was a prominent part of the game’s predecessor: Astro’s Playroom. Despite being a free game, many players flocked around the six Speedrun levels and the game saw a frantic speedrunning community.

Hopefully, the PlayStation’s mascot’s big new adventure will also receive the same level of love from the speedrunning community.

A huge win for PlayStation

After the horrendous failure of Concord, which resulted in the game’s shutdown rapidly after launch, the new platformer is a massive win for PlayStation.

In our review, we adored the new platformer calling it a “razor-sharp 3D platformer with lashings of heart”.

“Replete with that inventive spark that coursed through Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot exudes the same nourishing lightness as old-school platformers,” wrote our reviewer Tom Bradwell.

The new PlayStation exclusive launches tomorrow on September 6, 2024. Astro’s Playroom can be played right now for free with unlockable bonuses for the new game.
