Ubisoft has drip-fed a few new details regarding the series’ forthcoming Wii U incarnation. The studio’s Quebec branch is handling the project, yet didn’t commit in a recent round table event as to whether it would be an entirely new entry or a port of an existing title.
Ubisoft did, however, shed some light on how the new Wii U controller might be employed. The device’s touch screen will allow for swift weapon selection, displaying alternate puzzles (presumably like Subject 16’s riddles) and representing eagle vision. It will also house the game’s map and interactive databases.
Though whether it will be a port or a stand alone title is yet to be confirmed, Ubisoft did state that Wii U Assassins would re-use assets from the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 entries in the series.
Ubisoft’s Marc Parenteau was also complimentary of the Wii U.
“The multi-core architecture of the console is a natural fit for our in-house engine,” he said.
