Budding historians can now gain fresh insight into ancient Egypt thanks to the newly-launched Assassin’s Creed Origins: The Discovery Tour, allowing you to freely roam the game’s sumptuous open-world while digesting all sorts of tasty nuggets about this iconic period.

While Origins players can nab the Discovery Tour at no extra cost as part of today’s update 1.30, you can also purchase it as a standalone experience for £15.99 on Steam. Outside of soaking in the sights of Alexandra, Memphis, the Nile, and the Giza plateau on your own, the Discovery Tour also lets you take part in 75 themed tours cobbled together by Ubisoft and a collection of dedicated historians and Egyptologists.

‘With the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt, we give everyone interested in Ancient Egypt the chance to enjoy its beauty and the realisation that video games can be a source of inspiring knowledge,’ commented Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Creative Director, Jean Guesdon.

In addition to the Discovery Tour, Origins players can also take advantage of the much-requested New Game+ option, allowing you to start a fresh adventure while keeping all your hard-earned gear and abilities.

Assassin’s Creed Origins impressed Alice with its lush open-world and dedicated RPG mechanics, even if Ubisoft wasn’t quite ready to take the full leap of faith with them just yet.Â
