Ubisoft is working on a novel to tie-in with the release of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and it’s no surprise given previous novels have already shifted 1.8 million copies worldwide.

“The Assassin’s novels released through Penguin have performed extremely well,” commercial manager Chris Marcus told MCV.

“The new novel Black Flag will transport the reader to an iconic era of piracy and tell the story of how an assassin came to be one of the world’s most deadly pirates – you can’t help but believe this will be a great addition to the series.”

Also hoping to capitalise on the success of Assassin’s Creed 4 is a Titan-published art book.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be released November 1 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. The PC version will arrive a few weeks later, with PS4 and Xbox One editions expected at the console launches.

The question is, who’s buying these novels? Has anyone actually read one?
