The Assassin’s Creed movie has now made approximately $155 million worldwide, with $104 million coming from ticket sales outside of the US, reports Boxoffice Mojo.
In the US the Michael Fassbender action film has made just over $50 million, but by video game adaptation standards this isn’t too shabby. Assassin’s Creed is currently ninth in the all time video game movies in the US, but looks certain to overtake Resident Evil: Apocalypse into eighth. Seventh placed Resident Evil: Afterlife looks safe, with Assassin’s Creed looking unlikely to add another $9 million to its US total.
Internationally there could still be life in the title. With a number of key markets yet to open the film could top the $200 million mark.
With a production budget reported at $125 million, the chances of a sequel seem somewhat slim, but 20th Century Fox may have hopes of growing the franchise with future instalments.
