The Assassin’s Creed movie is rumoured to have been delayed to 2016 after 20th Century Fox removed the title’s August 7, 2015 opening slot.

Hollywood Reporter claims that the script for the movie, which stars Prometheus actor Michael Fassbender, has undergone “several rewrites” with the production grappling “with scheduling issues”.

The site claims to have been told that the film now won’t hit theaters until 2016.

To fill the gap left by Assassin’s Creed, next year’s Fantastic Four reboot has also been pushed back two months to August 7, 2015.

This year’s Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue and Assassin’s Creed: Unity, both go on sale on November 14.
