The highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed III, which promises to introduce a new protagonist to the series, will be released October 30, 2012, Ubisoft said today during its Q3 earnings call.

The October date brings the game a few weeks ahead of the series’ traditional November launch.

Given that Revelations launched in Europe midweek we expect Assassin’s Creed III to follow suit and hit these shores on October 30 too.

Rumours suggest the game will be set during the American Revolution

Ubisoft also said that it has sold close to seven million copies of Assassin’s Creed Revelations to retailers, but hasn’t given a sell-through figure.

The release date move is likely to see Assassin’s Creed III hit stores before Activision’s next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, itself likely for the early part of November.
