PC gamers looking forward to Assassin’s Creed III should ensure they’ve invested in a controller if they want to get the most from the sequel, creative director, Alex Hutchinson has told Gamespy.

“We’re definitely supporting PC,” he told Gamespy. “We love PC, but I think it’ll be PC with a controller. I don’t see us investing hugely in a mouse and keyboard setup. I think if you want to play on PC and you want to play Assassin’s Creed, you have a controller.”

Ubisoft later clarified to RPS that the game will support keyboard and mouse, just as previous games in the franchise have.

The publisher is yet to confirm a PC release date, but the console games will be in stores October 31.

Assassin’s Creed 3 and its Collector’s Editions are available to pre-order now.

With its draconian DRM methods Ubisoft hasn’t been PC gaming’s best friend and its decision to put little effort into the platform’s default control scheme certainly won’t help repair the relationship.
