ARK: Survival of the Fittest, the eSports spin-off from Survival Evolved, is no longer set to release on PS4 in beta this month after development was put on hold, Wildcard has announced.

The decision was made in order to focus on the development of ARK: Survival Evolved, and could see the title released earlier than originally planned.

A post on the PlayStation Blog reads: “Hey ARK fans, Studio Wildcard is putting the PS4 version of ARK: Survival of the Fittest on hold in order to focus on preparing ARK: Survival Evolved for PS4 release. While this means ARK: Survival of the Fittest won’t be releasing on PS4 in July 2016, we’re working towards an earlier release of ARK: Survival Evolved.”

Last we heard, Survival Evolved had been pushed back to holiday 2016, having previously been set to arrive in June.

An early access version has sold around 5 million copies across PC and Xbox One.
