ARK: Survival Evolved developer Studio Wildcard has now changed the next-gen bundle they were previously offering after receiving a wave of backlash from the game’s fan base. The new package, which is being called ARK: Survival Ascended, will apparently contain several pieces of future DLC instead that make use of the highly advanced 3D creation tool, Unreal Engine 5.

The old collection, which would have contained the series follow-up entitled ARK 2, was initially met with a ton of outrage since the sequel is reportedly still a year away from being released. Unfortunately, the community still isn’t satisfied at this revelation since they’re essentially being forced to purchase it once the first entry’s official servers are taken down at the end of August.

Players commenting under the official developer blog post are mostly furious that previous gen ARK: Survival Evolved servers are going to be shut down soon. Others are simply disappointed at the fact that you’ll need to purchase a DLC bundle in the future just to keep playing the game.

A disappointed user stated that they “didn’t think [the developers] could deliver a bigger slap in the face, but they sure as hell did.” Several others have also said that Studio Wildcard doesn’t understand their player base at all since the main problem only seems to be getting worse with each passing moment. In order to further prove their point, one fan even shared the link to a “save ARK official servers petition,” which 5,000+ fans have already signed at the time of writing.

Whether or not the developers change their strategy again remains to be seen as they are yet to respond to the community’s current criticisms. However, it’s safe to say that many players are nearing the end of their rope with Studio Wildcard and their disappointing antics.
