The fantasy MMORPG which has the unique feature of one player rising to become the ruler of the world, will soon be available to play completely free of charge.

As of January 4, 2006 the game’s subscription will be dropped meaning players can enjoy the online game without a fee. Existing subscribers are eligible for a refund where subscriptions run past January 4.

Codemasters will also be offering free in-game credits to all existing and future players. These will enable players to access the Chantra shop and purchase a range of in-game enhancements.

The game will also continue to be supported with new content, including the release of Episode 2, a free expansion, which will launch in the coming weeks.

We are extremely pleased to offer gamers the chance to play ArchLord for free,” said Adam McGowan, Product Marketing Manager for Codemasters Online Gaming. “With both the switch to free to play and huge new forthcoming content updates in the form of the free new Episode 2 expansion, we hope to see many more players joining ArchLord, taking their opportunity to raise an army and rule the world.

If you buy the retail version you will get 30 days free trial, and once this expires the game will have entered into the free to play service.
