According to sales data compiled by the NPD group it is Grand Theft Auto IV which has dominated the month’s software sales in the US. On Xbox 360 the highly acclaimed title sold a huge 1.85 million units and is comfortably the highest selling title for the month of April. Despite much early talk of the PS3 version managing to compete with the sales of the Xbox 360 version, it finds itself some 850,000 units behind at 1 million units.

Such was the margin of victory for the Xbox 360 version that Mario Kart Wii was able to sneak into second place with equally impressive sales of 1.12 million. Wii Play takes fourth spot with 360,000 units and Super Smash Bros. Brawl is close behind in fifth place with 326,000 units.

GT5: Prologue is at No.6 (224,000), Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time take positions seven and eight respectively with sales of 202,000 units apiece, Guitar Hero III for Wii is ninth (152,000) and Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 finds itself tucked in at No.10 (141,000) units.
