Our resident maths boffins have had their thinking caps on to come up with an approximate week one sales figure for Sony Computer Entertainment’s Uncharted 2.
We started with the knowledge that FIFA 10 has now sold over a million units in its three weeks (according to ChartTrack). ChartTrack has also revealed that week 2 FIFA 10 sales were down 64 percent, and week 3 sales were down 54 per cent on week 3.
This gives us the following approximate sales figures for FIFA 10 assuming FIFA 10 sales currently stand at exactly one million units.
Week 1: 655,478
Week 2: 235,973
Week 3: 108,547
We also know that Uncharted 2 debuted at No.2 in the chart behind FIFA 10 (week 3), meaning launch figures for Naughty Dog’s sequel are below 108,547 units. It’s worth noting that we don’t know the exact FIFA 10 sales – ChartTrack only reported that the game had “sailed comfortably through the 1m units mark”, but this does at least give a ballpark figure. Sales of greater than one million units would result in higher week 3 sales.
To put Uncharted 2’s sales into some context, FIFA 10 on PS3 accounted for 46 per cent of the game’s total week 1 sales – approximately 300,000 units.
