PopCap subsidiary 4th & Battery’s iOS title Unpleasant Horse has been denied a release on the App Store, the studio announced via Twitter.

Based on the dev’s own description of the game, Apple might have a point: “Your idea of a good time is bouncing from cloud to cloud and on to the backs of other, cuter flying ponies, who will thus be sent plummeting to a gruesome, bone-chewing demise, thanks to an unfortunately placed series of meat grinders on the ground below.”

“WTF? Apple rejected Unpleasant Horse cuz of ‘mature content’? We thought horses dying in meat grinders was wholesome family entertainment!” read a now deleted Tweet.

A later Tweet added: “”We’re appealing, though (with a higher rating) and we’ll hopefully have good news for y’all soon!”

An official statement from 4th & Battery is expected soon.
