EA and Respawn have announced that Season 2 of Apex Legends is called Battle Charge; it will introduce a new character, called Wattson; and it's out next month.

Natalie 'Wattson' Paquette is an engineer, capable of recharging shields, whipping up fences, and destroying incoming missiles – she also has a big pylon, so that's pretty good, probably.

On top of Wattson, Season 2 will also bring a new Battle Pass and new rewards, along with Ranked Mode, which has you fighting through six competitive tiers.

The improved Battle Pass includes daily and weekly challenges, and cuts the time it takes to reach Battle Pass level 100. There are three new Legendary skins to unlock, three new content categories, and an awful lot of Craft Metal. There are also some changes to the King's Canyon map being teased.

Season 2 is scheduled to start on July 2.
