EA may have ended its 15-year relationship with Tiger Woods, but we may see the world’s most famous golfer return to video games with another publisher, reports ESPN.
“We had an incredible run,” said Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg. “Outside of [John] Madden, you would be hard pressed to find a sports figure that meant as much to a video game company as Tiger meant to EA. But times are changing and EA had to re-evaluate the partnership, and frankly so did we.”
Steinberg says he is currently in negotiations with another company relating to Woods’ video game rights.
Earlier this year Take-Two registered the domains Links2KGolf.com and 2KGolfLinks.com, suggesting it was considering reviving the Links Golf franchise not seen since the Microsoft published Links 2004 for the original Xbox.
In 2004 the game’s developer Salt Lake City studio was sold to Take-Two Interactive and renamed Indie Built, but was shut down in 2006.
