Both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem will be out on 3DS within the first six months of next year, Nintendo has announced.
The news was broken by Satoru Shibata, boss of Nintendo Europe, during this morning’s Nintendo Direct conference. Shibata also apologised for the fact that we’ll have to wait for so long.
“In order to provide the best end result and give fans the quality they expect from Nintendo, we can confirm today these two titles will now be launching in Europe in the first half of 2013,” he said.
“We are sorry you will have to wait a little longer but we hope you understand our desire to ultimately deliver a game fans will love.”
Both games will make use of the 3DS’s StreetPass abilities. In Fire Emblem: Awakening you’ll be able to recruit characters from other players, helping to bolster your forces. You’ll also be able to use SpotPass to download new game content.
Animal Crossing, meanwhile, will allow you to exchange house designs via StreetPass. A “model home” area at one end of the town will let you inspect the layouts and designs used by other players.
Nintendo also promises that that the game will offer more lifelike characters, with an increased range of characterisation options, and will grant you more control over the look of your town.
