Angry Birds Star Wars 2 will be released on the various app stores on September 19, Rovio Entertainment and LucasFilm have announced.
The new game is based on the three prequels and introduces a roster of new Angry Birds Star Wars characters. 30 of these are playable from the off, with a further 30 accessed through a line of collectable Telepods figures from Hasbro.
The Telepods work similarly to Skylanders – placing the figures onto your phone or tablet camera will scan your character of choice directly into the game, allowing you to select new characters on the fly.
Also new to the series is the option to choose the Dark or Light Side.
The game’s launch will be supported by a new range of toys, plush, books, apparel and more. The Telepods will be available in stores from September.
