Angry Birds Epic, first teased earlier this week, is a turn-based RPG, Rovio has told Kotaku.
The game features a story-driven campaign, turn-based combat and an in-depth crafting system, much like any other RPG, only this one also features Angry Birds.
Crafting will enable players to make armour, potions and weapons using resources won in the game, or acquired with real world money.
The unfinished game will roll out in Canada and Australia this week, with the final game set to launch worldwide later this year for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8.
