America’s Army launched on July 4, 2002 for PC and offered gamers a virtual experience of soldiering in the U.S. Army, from basic training to the battlefield in the global war on terrorism.
America’s Army: True Soldiers on the Xbox 360 promises to deliver the most realistic U.S. Army experience on a console, featuring high-tech equipment and gameplay based on teamwork, leadership, rules of engagement and respect for life and property.
Just like in real combat, honour and respect must be earned and players will earn respect as they move up through the ranks and become true leaders. Team-mates can award points to other team members who play with honour.
The game’s focus is multiplayer, with eight maps developed by Red Storm Entertainment (creators of Ghost Recon) and full Xbox Live online play including clan support. Teams will be able to quickly jump online and compete against rival clans.
Built on the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 game engine, America’s Army also looks the part and promises to deliver a true next-gen experience. In addition to multiplayer, a single-player mode will see players advancing through a career taking on roles such as Rifleman, Grenadier, Automatic Rifleman and Sniper. Accomplishments and skills earned offline will upgrade the player’s character and can then be utilised online.
America’s Army: True Soldier is scheduled for release exclusively on Xbox 360 in September, although currently Ubisoft only has plans to release the game in the US. You can find a trailer over on Pro-G TV.
