Amazon has beaten Play.com’s £169 PlayStation Vita deal – reported by VideoGamer yesterday – by offering a free 4GB memory card and the option to purchase a selected game for £15.

The deal was posted last night in reaction to Play’s Summer Clearance promotion, which saw £60 knocked off the price of Sony’s handheld.

Amazon now offers a Wi-Fi PlayStation Vita and 4GB memory card for £169.99.

You can also pick up one of the following games for an additional £15:

  • LEGO Batman 2
  • FIFA Football
  • Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition
  • Michael Jackson: The Experience HD
  • Rayman Origins
  • Dungeon Hunter Alliance
  • Lumines Electronic Symphony
  • Virtua Tennis 4

The deal only appears to apply to the Wi-Fi SKU. The 3G unit is currently unavailable to buy from Amazon.

The new lower price makes PlayStation Vita a cheaper option than Nintendo’s 3DS XL, the revised 3DS handheld due to launch in the UK next week.

The 3DS XL, which boasts a new curved design and larger screens over the original 3DS, is currently available to pre-order for around £179.99.
