Microsoft is developing a mobile version of Age of Empires, according to a Reuters report.

Japanese developer KLab Inc is said to be handling the game’s development, which will release on iOS and Android “with plans to release the game… on a Windows Phone in the future”.

However, it isn’t yet known whether the mobile game will be an all-new Age of Empires title or a port of an existing title.

The mobile game follows the release of Age of Empires 2: HD Edition earlier this year, a revamped version of the classic historic strategy title featuring support for higher resolution monitors and online multiplayer.

Microsoft has yet to release any official details on Age of Empires mobile.
