SEGA has announced that After Burner will be released for the PSP in spring 2007. The game, titled After Burner: Black Falcon, is in development at Planet Moon Studios and will allow players to relive the experience of the arcade game.

Black Falcon is an arcade-style flight combat game, but it’ll include 19 officially licensed military planes. Your task is to recover 13 stolen fighter planes, using explosive weapons and cutting edge high-speed jets. As well as a single-player campaign, the game will include numerous multiplayer modes, for co-op and competitive play.

After Burner: Black Falcon is a good example of updating one of the all time SEGA classics for the current generation of gamers“, commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director, SEGA Europe, Ltd. “Its fast paced, challenging gameplay, combined with amazing visuals and superb multiplayer options make it a great addition to the PSP.”

After Burner: Black Falcon is due for release in spring 2007, so expect a lot more on the game leading up to its release.
