Adam Hunter was revealed as a playable character in the upcoming Streets of Rage 4 during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase (via a press release).

Streets of Rage 4 is currently being cooked up by developers Guard Crush Games and Lizardcube with developer and publisher Dotemu. It’s seriously stylish with hand-drawn visuals and an original soundtrack produced by composers of the previous entries in the series, with a little help from, “an all-star lineup of contributing guest musicians.” Though it may harken back to the classic beat ‘em up, Streets of Rage 4 is a new story set ten years after Streets of Rage 3 and will include new mechanics and new characters.

The big news is that Adam Hunter will drop into Streets of Rage 4. He hasn’t appeared as a playable fighter since Streets of Rage which was released for the Sega Mega Drive in 1991. He’s still got it, though. Adam Hunter’s donning a new design and will use his quintessential, “screen-clearing combos as well as his special moves and dash ability, each unique to him from the rest of the game’s roster.” Buddies Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding will fight alongside Adam Hunter in Streets of Rage 4, as well as his daughter, Cherry Hunter.

Streets of Rage 4 will release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Watch the Adam Hunter reveal trailer below.
