Activision is adding an extra 30 days subscription to paid-up members of its Call of Duty Elite service as a response to continued problems with its launch.
Many are still unable to access the stat-tracking service at all, due to crashing servers from “greater than expected demand”. Activision reports that more people are playing Modern Warfare 3 online than with Call of Duty: Black Ops last year.
Both the extra 30 days and Call of Duty: Elite Founder status is also being offered to everybody who buys the £34.99 premium subscription before the end of November. Founder status was originally only for those who signed up within the first week.
In a statement, Activision explained how it is working to fix these issues. “At launch, our registration and login systems were crushed by gamers trying to enter the Elite site at the same time.”
“We have now fixed the registration and login systems, but we have found that the greater than expected demand is crashing servers. We’re immediately deploying multiple additional servers to beef up the system.”
Activision also announced it is “going to temporarily limit access to Elite services on both the console applications and website while we build additional capacity and scale.”
“We’ll look to increase access to greater numbers of users as soon as possible.”
VideoGamer.com awarded the game a 9/10 in its Modern Warfare 3 review.
