Although there are no details on what ‘an exclusive new look’ at Kojima’s next game entails, it is plausibly new footage of Death Stranding, maybe even more gameplay. The most recent content Kojima shared was the Heartman cutscene, in which we met the titular BRIDGES scientist that dies every 21 minutes, living in the world of the dead before being revived. Speculating from this, Kojima might show off the mechanic where Sam must navigate this other realm after death, and how the ‘Strands’ between players are formed.
I strongly doubt, however, that whatever is revealed in two weeks time will help us understand what Death Stranding is, or was. Or will be. But the fact that Kojima is happy to appear on stage and show more of the game means that perhaps his ‘crunch time of dev’ comment was lost in translation, and everything’s comfortably on track for launch later this year.
Death Stranding will release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on November 8.
