70s-themed dodgeball game Stikbold is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC/Mac this spring, Curve Digital has announced.

Developed by Danish team Game Swing, Stikbold is described as an “over-the-top action sports game” that sees players embark on an adventure “to rescue babes, save the Stikbold! championships and defeat the devil himself”.

“Fight through hippies, whales and skeletons, take on huge boss battles and complete more than 45 dastardly challenges in the ultimate dodgeball adventure”, Curve says, or head to competitive multiplayer to take part in some local “dodgeball deathmatches”.

“When we started making Stikbold!, the last thing we thought we would end up with was a quirky 70s inspired dodgeball game, but it just works!” said Game Swing co-founder Jacob Herold. “Everyone who plays the game can’t stop smiling and the reception we have had so far has been incredible. We are really looking forward to getting the game out there and spreading some groovy dodgeball love.”

The story mode includes support for up to 2-player co-op, while competitive multiplayer allows up to 4 human players and 2 AI to compete in local games set across a variety of arenas, including oil rigs and public parks.
